HMS Back Up sets anchor for fundraising success

Wellspect HealthCare attended the recent Back Up Trust Annual ball, at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham on 8th November and took HealthCare Professionals from across four spinal units. This year saw a nautical theme, with costumes from Jelly Fish and Nemo to sailors and pirates. The vent raise in excess of £23,000 with the bulk of that fundraising total coming from auction prizes, but also many one-off donations on the night or individuals signed up as regular givers.

Back Up’s Louise Wright and Sean McCallion thrilled the crowds with a “spicy salsa” dance, after pledging to perform once a significant amount was raised. Revelling went on into the night, with many lasting until breakfast! The event was an undeniable success, which we were delighted to be part of.

Wellspect sponsored the Carer of the Year Award to Renatta Kudelkova, with Wellspect’s Jonathan Simpson presenting the award.

Wellspect are proud to announce that they will be supporting Back Up’s Life Skills courses in 2015, so expect to hear much more in the coming year about this fantastic charity.

London to Paris raises vital funds

We presented David Griffiths, Director & Company Secretary of the Stoke Mandeville Spinal Charity with a cheque for £995 after Wellspect HealthCare's very own Alan Cook hand-cycled in London to Paris race in June. The money was raised through sponsorship form his colleagues, friends and family. Alan handcycled for three days, covering 324 miles. David also took part in the race and both are pictured here with their respective bikes, as well as Wellspect UK Managing Director, Steve Harwood and Marketing Manager, Rachael Chapple.

The money will be put towards vital funds to support the spinal unit at Stoke Mandeville which the charity works hard to achieve.

The Stoke Mandeville National Spinal Charity is one of the Wellspect HealthCare charities in 2015.
